Tribal-folks Black Pepper – a superior variety of Malabar Pepper has got crowning place in international market because of its unique quality. It is further classified as garbled and un garbled. The garbled variety is full black with unified globular size whereas the un-garbled has varied size and the color variegate from white, dark brown to black. Garbled pepper gets higher price in the market. With profitability alone in mind, many people “Make” garbled pepper by adding synthetic colors, chemicals and polishes.
At tribal-folks, pepper is grown naturally in our own plantation in Wayanad, Kerala with the use of cow dung as the only fertiliser and organic lime as the soil acidity regulator. For other different crops in the plantation, we use only bio-fertilisers and bio-pesticides.
The pepper is harvested during Dec-Jan and then peppercorns are stripped off the spikes. The raw corns are then dried under sunlight. Once it is dried adequately, dust, dried spike remains and other foreign particles are filtered-off and then stored. According to the demand it is packaged in eco-friendly pouches with outmost hygiene and care.
